Kamala Harris Cracks at Donald Trump’s ‘Better Looking’ Claim Before Debate

Vice President Kamala Harris counted former President Donald Trump’s claim that he’s better looking than her as a lie in a campaign ad released hours before their first debate.
“Donald Trump has a real problem with the truth,” Harris said in a post on Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter. The Democratic presidential nominee included a video that started with “His lies never stop.”
The video shows clips of Trump claiming that he passed legislation that made insulin $35, doesn’t “know anything” about Project 2025, and that there was “no inflation” during his presidency as lies he’s said on the campaign trail.
Another clip showed Trump saying, “I’m a better-looking person,” at a campaign rally. The clip ends with a voice-over saying, “Donald Trump has been, and always will be, a liar.”

Trump has frequently criticized his rival, calling her a Marxist and dishonest while also making jabs about her appearance and saying she is “not a clever person.”
His attacks have only increased in recent weeks as Tuesday’s presidential debate crept closer, with concerns from some supporters and commentators that these could distract from a head-to-head on policy.
Harris’ campaign has chosen to run a series of ads against Trump’s claims, calling him a liar and quoting key members of his previous administration who have raised concerns about his ability to lead the country.
“In 2016, Donald Trump said he would choose only the best people to work in his White House. Now those people have a warning for America: Trump is not fit to be president again,” the voice-over in the below video said.
The ad goes on to show former Vice President Mike Pence, Trump’s Defense Secretary Mark Esper and National Security Advisor John Bolton in interviews saying they did not trust him to lead again.
Another ad showed former President Barack Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention last month, in which he said Trump had a “weird obsession” with rally crowd sizes, before showing empty seats at one of the Republican’s events.
Trump’s campaign has released videos on its social media channels showing voters and officials saying they would not be voting for Harris while also pushing policies and views on illegal immigration and voter fraud.
Both sides are dialing up the heat on the other ahead of Tuesday’s debate in Philadelphia, which some voters will be using as their decision-maker for polling day.
Harris and Trump go head-to-head on ABC at 9 p.m. ET.
